What a difference a year makes... →
This is the post I wrote a year ago. I was thinking back today about how awful I felt a year ago and how ecstatic I am today, 365 days later. Back then, while I was miscarrying, I seriously could not think past the next couple of weeks. And that plan?? HA! I guess it’s what I needed to do to stay positive.

Ergo Baby Carrier HALF OFF! →
Why did I just see this?! Oh man. I’ve heard such good things about this carrier. And half off! The only color left is pink though…hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. What to do, what to do?

Coffee
I have slowly been reintroducing some caffeine into my life in the past couple of weeks, having my first cup of coffee the day after Christmas! Today, I badly need it because I stayed up waaaay too late last night (2am!) finishing The Hunger Games. It’s a young adult book but it’s super good! Anyway, back to caffeine. I used to drink coffee every single day until I noticed that I was...

12 weeks (+1 day)
One more week until the 2nd trimester! This past week was smooth sailing. I’m still getting nauseated after dinner but that’s nothing compared to how I felt about 3 weeks ago. I can actually function throughout the day and EAT! I haven’t weighed myself in about a week, but I’m sure I’ve gained all the weight I lost in the last couple of months (about 5lbs). With the...

It was a wonderful Christmas. We finally told Joe’s family about the pregnancy (and engagement!) and they were very happy for us. Joe’s mom is particularly excited since Joe’s an only child and this will be her first grandchild. It was a little overwhelming though and I started to kind of freak out—but more on that later. I didn’t get too many presents. When my mom...

One of my girlfriends just had her twins (!) last night and I am so over the moon for her. And this morning and I can’t stop thinking about when it’s me sending the text to my friends announcing baby’s arrival. I can’t really imagine anything beyond my next doctor’s appt, to be honest, but to catch a glimpse of this—it’s just so exciting! I can’t...

I am suffering from exhaustion today. I stayed up waaaay past my bedtime watching the finale of The Sing Off—which is just awesome. It makes me wish I could sing! Yesterday’s appointment was awesome. Leading up to it, I was starting to get scared of the possibility of a missed miscarriage. I think this may be the last time I will ever talk about it because I don’t even like...

H1N1 and miscarriage
I came across this article in pruittlife’s blog and it got me thinking. Last year, while I was in early pregnancy, I had to get the H1N1 shot. I work with patients and it was mandatory. If I refused, I would have to wear a mask every time I saw a patient. So I decided to get it. The article purports that the incidence of miscarriages in pregnant women who got the H1N1 shot in 2009 increased...

11 weeks!
Only 2 more weeks left in the first trimester! I mention this pretty much every week, but it is just unbelievable how fast this is going. The last week found me cooking dinner again. I’ve avoided cooking at home because the smell would get to me so badly that it would give me a headache and make me so nauseated. But this week, even Joe was surprised when I cooked dinner two nights in a row!...

2,191 days
2,191 days ago, Joe and I met in a bar. It was a Wednesday evening, and it was cold. My girlfriend and I had sushi for dinner and I had time to kill before going to a party that evening. She suggested going to this bar that I’d never been to, and I agreed. I had just turned 21 four months earlier and wasn’t familiar with the bar scene and I felt so 21, so legit going to a bar. I...

I just purchased a doppler on Amazon for $23—no tax, free 2-day shipping (thank you Amazon Mom!). It should get here on Thursday. I can’t wait! I hope to be able to find a heartbeat and hear the sweet sound of it on my own before my appt next Monday. Also, I’m hoping that this eases some of the worry that does creep in every once in a while. This is the one I got. I’ll...

10 weeks! Aaahhhh!
First off, thank you for the well wishes! I felt much better by Friday afternoon and the party was fun (although I was exhausted!). I kept telling Joe all day Saturday while I was prepping food that it might be our last big holiday party as next year we’ll have a little one (still surreal to think about) and I can’t spend 8 hours in the kitchen. I’ve been feeling pretty good in...

Stayed home from work yesterday and again today. I love the daytime shows I’m catching up on: -Live with Regis and Kelly -A Baby Story -Bringing Home Baby -Ellen DeGeneres I’m hoping to feel better by tomorrow for the party. I’m going to be cooking all day and entertaining all night! Being sick and pregnant is no fun. Last night the nausea was pretty bad and coupled with...

Yup, definitely sick. I can’t breathe out of my nose at all and I’m waiting for Joe to come home with my Vicks vapor rub. I hope I get some sleep. Really bad timing because our holiday party is this weekend!

9 weeks (+1 day)
Time seems to accelerate when you start measuring your life by weeks. Am I really 9 weeks pregnant already and starting my 10th week? Just a few more weeks and I’ll be 1/3 done in the 2nd trimester! The past week was a lot better than the others. It’s the week that I found my appetite again. I gave in to my Thai food cravings and was surprised when there were no repercussions. I felt...

Joe said that he had a dream last night that our baby is a boy. And that I was breastfeeding him (his exact words were that “he was suckling on [my] nipple”). So I don’t know if it’s some dad premonition or some male complex thing! He and I have been trying to guess since we found out if we’re gonna have a boy or a girl. Honestly, for some reason, I’m leaning...

A random Friday list… we might get our tree tonight, except it’s raining if we do get our tree, I don’t feel like decorating because the decorations are buried under a bunch of crap that’s piled up in our storage closet in the past 11 months our annual holiday party is next weekend and I really hope I feel well enough to cook all that food! there will be 30...

I’ll have to look into that since IVF in January WILL WORK :). xo ******************************************************* Hey B! I know, seriously! What I learned...
—I learned that I’m truly a planner, not just self-professed. I think I may have been the earliest pregnancy in the room full of 20+ pregnant women. Everybody had a belly! And when I asked the facilitator a question afterwards, she asked me if I’m pregnant now! Umm, no lady, I just like to sit in in workshops that don’t apply to me… —I learned that I...

Maternity Leave and Childcare
Today I’m going to a workshop offered by my job to learn about maternity leave. I, of course, know nothing about this since I’ve never had to think about it before. When I ask my colleagues, I always get confused. I’m hoping to learn as much as possible and start devising a plan for the summer. As of right now, I intend to come back to work full time after the longest possible...

Lovely November
November was a month that seriously just whizzed by. It didn’t feel like it when I was in the throes of nausea (and still am), but really though, we’re in December already?? My list will be short for November as I spent most of my days at home watching movies and sleeping and trying not to barf, but I’ll think about it as quality over quantity. Things loved in November: 1)...
